Day 15

Aelion learns that again, Nesa has been seen all over town the last week or so. This time, he learns she was staying 'somewhere in the Imperial Navy Shipyard District'.

The Duchess is from one of the oldest families in Cassomir; they helped found the city centuries ago.

Day 16

You learn that Nesa was frequenting the 'Inn of the Unlucky Sailor'.

The family is heavily entrenched in the Imperial Navy Shipyard operations, specifically in the realm of the shipwright's guild. She has heavy influence in Cassomir and the Navy itself and is very, very rich. As a Duchess, she outranks even the Governor of Cassomir, and is not far below the Grand Prince in the hierarchy. Though in Taldor, women cannot hold official office to run the country.

Day 17

Arriving in the Inn of the Unlucky Sailor, you find it to be quite the standard, dock-side like tavern. A few gold coins and a conversation with the proprieter tells you that Nesa was indeed staying here, and she hasn't been seen in several days. He's angry that she's seemed to skipped out, though grins stating her stuff is still here, which more than makes up for it. After an additional conversation, the man says she was frequenting the Blackrock Company in Grayguard's Shadow.

You learn no new information on the Duchess.

The three days after the Dog's Teeth:

Aelion Finally gets to researching his blade, after asking about local libraries and other places of learning.

Night two: Given information from issac, Aelion will attempt to stake out the shingle killer. Also invites nesa if she's up for it.

Night three. Local research, and from lesser nobility on the governor and duchess.

((Gather Info [Diplomacy] check for finding those places.

Need detail on what kind of stuff you're doing on your stake out; where are you going, what resources are you using, etc, followed by a Perception check

finally, knowledge nobility check))

Knwoledge: nobility: 8(d20)+11(skill)+2(inspiration)+2(settlement mod) = 23

Notes and plans on the Tarik situation - FIRST AND VERY ROUGH DRAFT.

Goals:

PRIMARY GOAL: Claim Tarik's blackmail papers. Slay or capture Tarik, preferrably while remaining unknown.

SECONDARY GOAL: Capture Nil and deliver to the Blackrocks.

1: Establish anonymous contact with Fingers. Determine her motives.
1a: Find out her intentions towards the Teeth.
1b. this invovles likely, a way to get in anonymously to the teeth. (Note suggestion given. Needs refinement? Aelion needs a reason to stay home.)
1c: The teeth is likely going to fall without Tarik's papers and interverntion. Fingers can't be stupid about this. It is likely we'll have to play her down. Apologies to the blackrocks, but it's very likely the teeth fall.

2: Establish contact with a rogue's guild or the like that is not affiliated with the teeth. Corieana is suggested, and likely wise. Call in favors.

3: Remain unknown. Act through intermediaries whenever possible. Perhaps find a rogue's guild in competition with the teeth?

4: It is very likely we will begin to fight Tarik's people. Assuming capture, we need a place to store captives. Perhaps the slums may be greatful for ridding them of their monster problem? Additionally, we'll have to get alternative lodgings. Going to be a mess to move everyone quietly. Illusions? Find people to pay off and/or spread misinformation about the party's whereabouts. Go low key. This is more likely to become a shadow war, of sorts, both sides can't be too overt.
4a: Subvert his people. Buy them off, mess with their minds. Turn as many people away from him as possible.

5: Very optional. Do we get in contact with the governor? Slightly more importantly: Is Tarik waging war on his perception? For that matter, the duchess's motives? - IMPORTANT: WHAT ARE WE EXACTLY AFTER?

Intelligence Corner: Tarik's men staking us out during the moat monster thing. - Likely gauging our capabilities?

How will we do this?

The idea for getting one person out isn't bad - but it's not going to work for everyone - mostly because we don't have that many hats. We're being watched.

Exit strategy A: Get any two of issac, Nesa and Aelion out, disguised. Have summer keep up the illusion, enough for them to be thought there. Have summer and Red exit. Ambush and capture watchers. Note that this will likely have Tarik on full alert. Make certain to have a non-governmental place to stash the prisoners.

B: As A, but instead of capture, bribe/coerce/sow thoughts onto the watchers. Have them feed Tarik false information. Upside is that maybe he can be baited into a trap in this manner.

----------------------------------

GOAL: Tarik's papers.

As Nesa said, the best way to go about this is to do it anonymously. Which is difficult. I imagine that still, the papers will have to come first. The current issue is that Tarik has no wish or need to leave the Teeth. That has to change, and the theft of his trump card should be enough to send him to panic to retreive them. Or to have others make their move.

A plan:

Requires Aelion/Nesa.

Requires teeth disguise. See how well it works with primary contact with Fingers.
Sow thoughts: Note that Tarik did state that he'd try and change things to sweeten the deal with the party. Prey on that. incite general unease among the people that the people in the more... distasteful professions may find themselves on the outs. Alternatively, play to their greed. Sow thoughts that Tarik may be squeezing them harder for "protection" money.

IF: Aelion is undetected in the first meet: Incite a riot. (NOTE: May want access to a screivner, if possible. Forged documents with Tarik's plans, with a healthy dose of paranoia may do it, but be there with psychic pushes. Regardless, the goal is for the people of the teeth to turn on Tarik. This also may hinge on Fingers just as well. Nesa is obviously there and disguised as our thief.

Another plan: Manufactured disaster:

Something that demands attention. Fire, perhaps? First that sounds good, and if it just -happens- to break out during the fights, it should keep distraction long enough for them to get hat they need to do. (Obvious con: If we're too good at starting said fires, and/or their supression efforts aren't good enough, need to have a plan to break the innocents out - mainly the slaves.

post-moat monster - Day 1:

-Ask Summer for illusion support - Make it look like Aelion is keeping to the inn in study.

-Ask for a hat of disguise. If claimed, exit the inn in the guise of a foreign low noble. Make a route to the teeth with the cover story of wanting to get away from his very overbearing wife, who seems to have a hold on the relationship. Enter the teeth undr the guise of wanting to keep things "quiet from the other half."

-Re-scout the teeth. Of Note:
-Entrances and exits that aren't the front door.
-He'll do some window shopping just for keeping up appearances. Elsewhere, he'll stick to the story. May need to talk to you, Grom about the particulars of that meeting.
-After the time in the teeth, He'll keep up the disguise, though he won't take a direct route to the inn. If he spots pursuers, he will attempt to shake them before returning.
-He'll return to the inn, congruent with what the illusion would have of him, taking his own again.
-Another distraction if possible. This time, ask for an invisiblity spell. Attempt to gain an audience with the governor. Anonymous interaction on anyone on the outside of his place. Kep a low profile, and go in as himself.
-Details of talk to come later.
-See Nesa about the results of seeing who's watching them, if applicable.
-Prepare, in case Tarik has reaches his own decision.
